On 24 September 2020 Deutsche Bank held ‘One Day’, a fantastic event to encourage staff from across the organisation to donate a day's salary to Hospice UK, their UK Charity of the Year.

We want to say a huge thank you to Deutsche Bank employees for supporting us and donating, and to Deutsche Bank for generously matching all their donations - doubling the difference every donation will make.

One Day events

This year it was Deutsche Bank's 14th annual 'One Day' fundraiser, and while things were a little different due to the restrictions on meeting face-to-face, the bank hosted a fantastic programme of online events to engage their staff, with over 100 employees signing up to attend. These included:

  • ITV political editor and vice president of Hospice UK Robert Peston chaired an insightful ‘in conversation with’ our CEO Tracey Bleakley and palliative care expert and author Dr Rachel Clarke.
  • Staff tuned in to hear about how Covid-19 has impacted hospice care and the incredible difference funds raised by Deutsche Bank will make to patients across the UK.
  • A celebrity-studded virtual quiz that gave Deutsche Bank employees the chance to pit their wits against a host of famous faces.
  • BAFTA winning comedian Jo Brand, legendary cricketer Monty Panesar and superstar DJ Fatboy Slim were happy to join as guest hosts in support of One Day.

Raising vital funds to extend end of life care provision

The money raised from One Day will go towards helping to reach the people who each year go without the end of life care they desperately need. It will enable Hospice UK to work across the healthcare system, providing new services that genuinely join up vital care from GPs, care homes, hospitals and communities.

Funds raised from One Day will also help Hospice UK research and understand new patient needs in light of COVID-19, including physical rehabilitation, bereavement counselling, mental wellbeing support and more. Using this knowledge Hospice UK will design and deliver innovative ways of caring for patients and their loved ones.

Last year Deutsche Bank employees did a fantastic job on One Day raising almost £1 million, making a huge impact on the two small charities supported. Later this year we'll find out what this year's final fundraising figure is, which will help more people across the UK have access to the care they need, when they need it.

Ongoing support from Deutsche Bank

Our Charity of the Year partnership goes beyond fundraising. The Charity of the Year programme aims to unlock further value for Hospice UK by helping to build organisational capacity and providing access to Deutsche Bank's in-house resources and expertise, which will help us to advance our cause.
