Award Nomination for Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank’s partnership with Help the Hospices

Sep 17, 2014

Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank’s partnership with Help the Hospices has been nominated for a Charity Times award in recognition of its fantastic impact in 2013/2014.

This is the latest chapter in what has been a brilliant partnership between the banks and Help the Hospices, who started working together in 2008.

To be nominated for the Corporate National Partnership of the Year with a Financial Institution award is testament to the banks’ dedication to supporting hospice care. Over the past seven years they have become one of Help the Hospices most valued and long standing partners.

Since 2008, Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank have raised over £3.4 million for hospice care. What makes the partnership unique is that employees can make a difference to hospice care in the communities in which they live and work, with each branch and office matched with a local hospice.

Employees have fundraised more than a staggering £1.5 million, with the banks matching their efforts. This does not mean that staff are resting on their laurels! More than 80 people, from across the Banks’ branch network, have signed up to trek Ben Nevis for Help the Hospices in October.

The money raised so far has supported 97 hospices around the UK in their vital work, as well as seeing employees from the banks give over 31,000 volunteering hours for their local hospices.

With numbers like this, it is clear to see why Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Banks partnership with Help the Hospices has made this prestigious shortlist.

The winners will be announced at an Awards Gala Dinner and Ceremony on Wednesday 22 October 2014 at the Lancaster London Hotel.

Jacqui Atkinson, Community Support Manager at Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank said: "Our employees have embraced Help the Hospices and from the start have shown incredible support at both a local and national level. We are proud of having raised £3.4 million for such a worthwhile organisation and are looking forward to another great year."
