Hospice UK’s response to General Election result

May 08, 2015
Hospice UK today responds to the outcome of the UK General Election.

Jonathan Ellis, Director of Policy and Advocacy at national hospice care charity Hospice UK, said:

“Hospice UK congratulates the newly elected Government.

“In its manifesto the Conservative Party made a clear commitment to improving end of life care. In particular, they pledged to support commissioners to combine better health and social care services for terminally ill people, so that more people can die in the place of their choice, including at home, instead of only in hospital.

“Our country’s hospices will be critical in making these commitments a reality, by helping to reduce the number of people in hospital at the end of life, and providing high quality home and community-based care.

“We look forward to working with the new Government to build a new partnership between hospices and our health and care system to improve care for terminally ill people and their families across the UK.”
