On 21 December the Charity Commission published its Inquiry Report on Hospice Aid UK. This concluded, among other things, that “there was misconduct and mismanagement in the administration” of Hospice Aid UK and that “donations were being solicited and/or procured by or on behalf of the charity in a manner which lacked transparency and was misleading to the public”.
Responding to this, Hospice Aid UK has sought to blame Hospice UK for its misfortunes.
Tracey Bleakley, Chief Executive at Hospice UK, said in response:
“Hospice UK is aware of the unfounded allegations made against us by Hospice Aid UK. We completely reject Hospice Aid UK’s attempt to hold us responsible for problems which we had no part in.
“The Charity Commission report details the numerous, serious failures of Hospice Aid UK, including its activities with its fundraising agency. After extensive investigations the regulator has quite rightly held Hospice Aid UK and its trustees accountable for this poor behaviour.”
