Head of Learning and Workforce

Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice care, supporting over 200 hospices in the UK. We believe that everyone matters throughout their life right up until they die, and that no one should die in avoidable pain or suffering.

We want to bring about the wide-reaching social and cultural transformation that is needed around how people in the UK are cared for at the end of their life. To empower individuals, communities and populations to embrace the ethos of hospice care and extend its breadth and reach to improve everyone’s experience of death, dying and bereavement.

We play an important national role in equipping hospices with the knowledge, skills and expertise needed to support local communities and to work in partnership with other care providers to extend their reach. The Head of Learning and Workforce is an exciting new position in the established Clinical team at Hospice UK which will work closely with our members.

The role will cross cut Hospice UK directorates and hold an outward facing role as an advocate for collaborative education and learning across settings and the sectors. It will support programmes currently in progress and work with the Chief Clinical Officer, Clinical Team and Projects Director to horizon scan to inform learning programmes that are vibrant and relevant to future needs of the Hospice and End of Life Care sector.

The role will also lead Hospice UK’s Workforce programme. The post holder will build a sustainable workforce model for the hospice movement that will build talent pipelines, focus on succession planning and workforce capability.

The key initial areas of focus for this role will be: the identification and development of hot topics to invigorate the Master class programme, furthering our current and future collaboration with Higher Education Institutions and workforce preparation, a workforce development programme, being a champion and facilitator of ECHO methodology.

A senior member of the team, you will bring extensive experience in the design and lead delivery of learning and development solutions for healthcare professionals enabling the on going delivery of Hospice UK’s existing programmes and develop its future ones.

This is a part time role - 28 hours per week
