How would you support a terminally ill transgender person who feels unsure that their needs will be met in a hospice setting?
Do you understand what might be needed to accommodate a young person with an autism-related condition who would love to volunteer in one of your shops?
Hospice UK is running a one day course to support hospice services to deliver inclusive services tailored to the needs of different groups.
Drawing on recent research, real-life scenarios and the shared experiences of participants, this practical session will ensure that delegates understand the legal and policy framework for promoting equal access to services.
These workshops are part of a wider workstream on Equalities and a suite of online materials will be available by January 2019 to support the dissemination of this work within member hospices.
For more information download the draft programme.
By the end of the event participants will have
- explored challenging situations relating to differing cultural expectations and communication with particular groups of patients, their families and friends
- explored the need to collect, manage and use data in meaningful ways to drive continuous service improvement
- .and be able to capitalise on diverse local staff and volunteers, support and funding
Facilitator - Agnes Fletcher
Following executive roles in the third and public sectors, during 11 years as a consultant, Agnes has supported hundreds of organisations to develop inclusive services and diverse and productive teams. Her clients are themselves diverse in size and sector - from Arsenal Football Club to the Department of Work and Pensions, the General Dental Council, the Money Advice Trust and Sainsbury’s.
