Hospice UK worked in partnership with BSS Industrial from March 2012 to October 2014. In that time employees raised a staggering £117,000 for hospice care.
How the partnership worked
All 65 BSS branches were twinned with a hospice in its local community, allowing employees to make a difference to hospice care where they live and work.
What we achieved
A broad range of fundraising events took place over the two years, from dress down days and raffles, to treks and boating regattas. Some of our highlights:
- The BSS 2013 marathon team raised an incredible £9,000.
- Chief Executive Officer Frank Elkins was joined by six fellow cyclists to take on the 260 mile challenge, cycling from Brussels to Frankfurt, raising over £7,900 for Hospice UK.
- Colleagues from the BSS Central Region showed real team work by climbing Mount Snowdon, raising more than £1,600.
- BSS employees also organised fantastic branch fundraising activities such as cake sales, superhero dress up days and collection tins.
“Hospices are inspirational places that are about celebrating life and living it to the full, as well as places that support patients and their family and friends through times of sadness and grief. Hospice UK therefore is extremely grateful for all the hard work and efforts of BSS Industrial colleagues who have raised an incredible amount to support hospices on both a national and local level.”
Peter Hornby, Director of Fundraising, Hospice UK.
