Clare Periton

Clare Periton has been part of the team at Helen and Douglas House since July 2005, previously as Director of Clinical Services and Deputy Chief Executive, and successfully appointed to the post of Chief Executive of the charity in August 2015.

Clare has extensive experience of managing the challenges faced by charities, such as funding shortfalls, serious incidents and organisational change.

Clare has a background in the NHS working as a Registered Nurse, Health Visitor, District Nurse and Senior Manager. She has over 25 years of experience working in a managerial capacity. Having originally trained at the Oxford School of Nursing, Clare has also studied at Kings College, London and New College Oxford, where she completed a Master’s degree in Evidence Based Health Care.  

Clare is passionate about the delivery of compassionate person centred care and has experience of working in a number of different organisations. She was a Board Nurse on Oxford City’s Primary Care Trust, a Trustee of Children’s Hospices UK and is currently one of the lay members of Oxfordshire Safeguarding Children Board.

Her professional interests include coaching and mentoring, developing new leaders, organisational development and collaborative initiatives.

Clare lives in Oxford and has two daughters. She winds down by spending time on the beach with her family, cooking, gardening and walking.
