A practising GP for 18 years, Karen developed an interest in palliative and end of life care becoming North East Essex CCG Clinical Lead in End of Life Care from 2013-15. Karen is the Clinical Lead for the My Care Choices Register, a locally developed electronic palliative care system which has been used by over 9000 people locally since its inception.

Karen has a special interest in addressing inequality in access to palliative care leading change in the widening of access to hospice services to people with non-cancer diagnoses such as dementia and heart failure as well as increasing hospice service provision to people from areas of deprivation.
