Dr Lucy Selman

Dr Lucy Selman is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bristol. She is a social scientist specialising in palliative and end of life care and the development and evaluation of complex interventions, and author of over 60 research papers in these areas.

Lucy’s primary research interests are patient-clinician communication, particularly in treatment decision-making and care planning; the training and support of non-specialist palliative care providers; and psychosocial, cultural and spiritual aspects of serious illness.

In 2018 she was awarded an NIHR Career Development Fellowship focussing on understanding and improving communication between renal clinicians and older people with advanced kidney disease. Lucy is also co-founder of the Palliative and End of Life Care Research Group South West, based at the University of Bristol.
