Emily is a registered mental health nurse, currently working as a Consultant Admiral Nurse at Dementia UK.

Within this role Emily is involved in the development of dementia specialist nursing services across the South West of England and South of Wales.  Emily specialised in dementia care since qualifying in 2014 and has gained experience working in the public, private and charitable sector, as well as in academia.

Emily is passionate about the care for older people, specifically people living with Dementia and the work environment in which the care is provided.

Emily has recently completed her Clinical Academic Doctorate funded by the National Institute of Health Research and supported by the University of Southampton which explored the work system factors of the acute care ward and the effect on nursing staff capacity for relational dementia care.

Since qualifying, Emily has participated and led on research that focuses on the care of older people in hospital and Emily’s most recent publication explored the correlation between staffing and levels of interaction which was published in the BMJ Quality and Safety.
