Sonya O'Leary

Sonya qualified in 1992 as a Registered General Nurse and Registered Sick Children’s Nurse at Liverpool School of Nursing.

Her career has been primarily working with children and young people at specialist hospitals within the UK; Bristol Hospital for Sick Children, Alder Hey and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

During this time, her main focus was in children’s oncology and palliative care, undertaking relevant courses in care of the dying.  In 2003, Sonya moved into the charity sector and managed a children’s Hospice at Home service for over a decade. In her later years with Rennie Grove Hospice Care, she also managed one of their adult teams.

Sonya has worked at Keech Hospice Care for over three years leading teams of specialist staff (in-patient, community and day support) in providing holistic palliative care for children across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.

Her role includes leadership, management and service development as well as contributing to the 24/7 provision in providing end of life care to children and young people in the community.
