Tony Collins, Deputy Chair of Hospice UK, has been awarded an OBE in the 2024 New Year's Honours List for services to healthcare and community.

Alongside his role as Hospice UK Deputy Chair, Tony is Chief Executive of Herriot Hospice Homecare, Just ‘B’ (bereavement support) and Saint Michael’s Hospice. 

With 25 years’ experience in the hospice sector, Tony is highly qualified, well respected in his field and sits on several professional boards. He tirelessly supported frontline workers during the COVID pandemic providing a counselling service which was supported by the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their Royal Foundation to make sure that frontline workers had mental health support. 

In 2020, Tony was elected as Interim Chair of Trustees at Hospice UK, subsequently leading a consultation period on the recruitment of Hospice UK’s permanent Chair, Paul Jennings. He is currently also Chair of the Advisory Council at Hospice UK.

Whether it’s hospice care, healthcare generally or community work, it’s incredibly encouraging to see these roles continually recognised in the New Year’s Honours List, and I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you.”
