The importance of collaboration with care homes

Text

In the UK there are over 17,000 care homes with an estimated 408,000 residents [1].

It is estimated that if current trends continue, by 2040 the most common place of death will be in a care home [2].

To help make sure everyone living in a care home receives quality palliative and end-of-life care, hospices need to work with their local care homes to upskill staff and share knowledge and expertise.

Increasing care home capacity will help reduce the numbers of deaths in hospital.
