Help the Hospices becomes Hospice UK following rebrand

Sep 29, 2014

Help the Hospices today changes its name and logo following a rebrand aimed at increasing awareness about the diversity of hospice care and reflecting the charity’s leadership role working collaboratively with its members to create a stronger voice for the sector.

The national charity has a new name- Hospice UK- and a refreshed logo, which still retains the sunflower image that has long been symbolically associated with hospice care.

Help the Hospices, which was founded 30 years ago, will start using its new name Hospice UK publicly from today (September 29). There will be a transitional period during which the existing brand is used, alongside the new brand, until mid October when the Hospice UK website will go live.

The charity decided to change its name and brand to better reflect its values - namely being a collaborative and creative ally to its members. It champions and supports the work of more than 200 member organisations providing hospice care across the UK, so they can deliver the highest quality care for people with terminal or life-limiting conditions and also support their families.

Development of both the new brand and website has been led by digital marketing agency Itineris which have worked on this project since the start of the year.

Hospice UK has also expanded its membership to bring more organisations which provide hospice care under its banner, including Marie Curie Cancer Care, Sue Ryder and NHS hospices.

David Praill, Chief Executive of Hospice UK, said:

"After 30 years our name and brand had become rather dated. We needed to update and rejuvenate it to help increase awareness about the diversity of hospice care. We also wanted it to more accurately reflect our role, working collaboratively with our members to champion their vital work. They have actively shaped and driven these changes.

"Our new brand seeks to embody the breadth, dynamism and flexibility of modern hospice care. These are exciting times for the sector and we are confident our new brand, along with our new membership structure, will strengthen our collective voice."
