It’s an exciting time to join Hospice UK. We are investing in an IT modernisation programme, and in this role, you’ll be the technical lead that makes it all happen. The IT Infrastructure Manager is a new, hands-on role in a small, newly formed IT team supported by third-party providers.

Salary: up to £55,000 per annum for the right person.

Contract: Permanent, full-time, 35 hour working week.

Location: Hybrid. Our Hybrid Working Arrangement gives you more choice about how, when and where you work best. Contractually based at our offices in London, we “Work Smarter to Live Better”. This means a mixture of working from the office or remotely in a way that balances the needs of Hospice UK, your team and yourself. As a guide, you’ll probably need to visit our London office once a week but we’re happy to discuss this. Depending on your projects, this might be a little more or less often. You might also want to spend more time on site when you first join us, to meet colleagues in person and understand our office tech.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be delivering a mixture of projects and ‘business as usual’ IT operations, including:

  • Implementing Microsoft 365
  • Rolling out laptops/devices to support hybrid working
  • Moving our servers/services from a hosted data centre to the cloud e.g. Exchange
  • Overseeing the IT elements of our London office refurb e.g. networking, audio-visual
  • Leading a cyber security improvement programme and working towards Cyber Essentials accreditation
  • Establishing good infrastructure management practices including performance monitoring, change control procedures
  • Overseeing and coordinating our 3rd party provider of service desk, user support and planned/reactive maintenance. You won’t be doing 1st line support yourself.
  • Backup, licence management

Our ideal candidate:

  • Shares our values: collaborative, compassionate, inclusive, innovative, knowledgeable.
  • Good IT generalist with experience of managing servers, services, (on-prem, SaaS, IaaS etc.), networking, end user devices, telecoms, etc.
  • Experience of the Microsoft ‘stack’ in particular e.g. Active Directory, Windows Server, Exchange, Office, etc.
  • Experience of delivering security improvements including technical changes, training and awareness raising.
  • Understanding of good practice IT service management (e.g. ITIL) and project management (e.g. PRINCE2)
  • A pragmatic problem solver, focused on delivering an excellent user experience
