It’s an exciting time to join Hospice UK. We are investing in an IT modernisation programme, and in this role, you’ll be the technical lead that makes it all happen. The SQL Database Support Analyst is a hands-on technical role in a small, newly formed IT team supported by third-party providers.

Salary: up to £44,000 per annum for the right person.

Contract: Permanent, full-time, 35 hour working week.

Location: Hybrid. Our Hybrid Working Arrangement gives you more choice about how, when and where you work best. Contractually based at our offices in London, we “Work Smarter to Live Better”. This means a mixture of working from the office or remotely in a way that balances the needs of Hospice UK, your team and yourself. As a guide, you’ll probably need to visit our London office once or twice a month but we’re happy to discuss this. Depending on your projects, this might be a little more or less often. You might also choose to spend more time on site when you first join us, to meet colleagues in person.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be carrying out a mixture of support and maintenance tasks, along with improvement projects, including:

  • Maintaining our key business systems – CRM, Finance and HR/Payroll.
  • Maintaining integrations between systems.
  • System administration.
  • Minor updates, patches and change requests.
  • Trouble-shooting and resolving issues, escalating to 3rd party providers where appropriate.
  • Maintaining and improving the data warehouse and reporting.
  • Providing informal training and guidance to colleagues.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Shares our values: collaborative, compassionate, inclusive, innovative, knowledgeable.
  • Experienced in maintaining critical business systems and related services.
  • Technically hands-on e.g. able to write SQL queries, trouble-shoot bespoke integrations.
  • Experienced in Microsoft technologies in particular e.g. SQL Server.
  • Understands good practice IT service management e.g. documentation and procedures.
  • A pragmatic problem solver, focused on delivering an excellent user experience
