Sustainability at Hospice UK Conferences

To support sustainability, Hospice UK will:

• Use badges made from card to eliminate the need for plastic badge wallets.
• Have re-usable lanyards which we ask delegates return to us after the event.
• Ensure most signage used on site can be re-used for future conferences. 
• Have reduced the number of printed materials we provide by using a conference app for all event information.
• Share details about all external work via QR codes to reduce printing.
• Our chosen venue, Liverpool Experience Campus, is easy to reach by public transport.
• Encourage that, where possible, conference attendees use public transport when travelling to the venue. 
• Encourage attendees to bring water bottles.

To support sustainability the Liverpool Experience Campus:

• Have committed to reaching Carbon Zero status by 2030. 
• Use 100% renewable electricity across the entire campus.
• Processes food waste on site or donates it to local charities across the city region. 
• Harvest rainwater across the venues for more reusable water usage, providing 40% of their flushing water.
• Have achieved Gold status as a Green Meetings accredited venue. 
• Have water foundations placed around the venue and encourage all attendees to bring empty water bottles.

To support sustainability the Liverpool Experience Campus:

• Prioritise seasonable, responsibly sourced local ingredients and maintain a strict zero-air-freight policy.
• Prioritise plant-based menus, including 100% plant-based desserts, and avoid using red meat.
• Have eliminated single use plastics, opting for alternatives such as seaweed-based packaging. 
• Are partnered with the carbon labelling tool, Foodsteps, to measure the impact of their food and allow event organisers to make informed choices.
