Write to your MP campaign

Ahead of Hospice Care Week 2025, we’re launching a Write to your MP action, asking MPs to attend our parliamentary event in Westminster on 15 October 2025.

About the campaign
The theme of this year’s Hospice Care Week is more than you think, spotlighting the incredible care that takes place outside the hospice building.
Throughout the week, we’ll be highlighting the specialist palliative care that takes place in the community, helping people live well at the end of their lives. We’ll be showing how hospices are experts at delivering care closer to home, keeping people out of hospital who do not need to be there, and relieving pressure on the system.
This is something hospices do every day – supporting people to be where they want to be at the end of life, in the place they love most: their own home.
But hospices are on the brink. Surging costs mean that almost every month, another hospice faces the difficult decision to reduce services due to a lack of funding. And this comes just as demand is rising fast, because of our ageing population.
We’re asking people to write to your MP, encouraging them to attend our Westminster event and hear what their local hospice needs to secure its future, care for more patients, and support the NHS.
How to get involved
Write to your MP launched on 1 September 2025 with promotion across all our channels.
Last year we saw huge uplifts in people writing to their MPs when the campaign was promoted by their local hospice. Hospices included the ask in supporter emails, on social, in shops and at events. It makes a real difference if your comms and marketing team can get behind it.
There are a range of ways that your hospice can support the campaign.

Full length version:
Hospice care is more than you think.
On the wards, in the community, and in people’s homes across the UK, hospices look after people who are approaching the end of life day in, day out.
The need for hospice care is rising fast – but the cost of providing care is soaring, too. And with inadequate government funding, many hospices are on the brink, with services being cut back when they could – and should – be expanding to meet rising demand.
Shortened version:
Hospice care is more than you think.
On the wards, in the community, and in people’s homes, hospices look after people at the end of their lives day in, day out. But their services are under threat like never before.
