Compassionate Cymru

In Wales, we work in partnership with Compassionate Cymru to support the activities and aims of Dying Matters as part of the wider vision to make Wales the first ‘compassionate country’.

Compassionate Cymru is a collaboration of individuals and organisations committed to improving and supporting everyone’s experience of end of life care and bereavement in Wales. It was established in 2019 in response to the Welsh Government’s commitment to make Wales a compassionate country and evolved from Dying Matters’ sister charity in Wales, Byw Nawr.

As part of the Compassionate Cymru steering group, Dying Matters is proud to support the implementation of the Compassionate Cymru Charter as well as to use our networks and guidance to promote a national conversation about how we can live well and make preparations in advance for the end of life.

Lesley Bethell, Chair of Compassionate Cymru says, “I’m delighted to be able to say we work in partnership with all our members and Dying Matters is right at the heart of our ambition. Sharing, dissolving boundaries, building connection and co-production are at the core of our project.”
