Helen Malo, Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager (Scotland) at Hospice UK says: We’re pleased to see today’s Scottish Government’s Programme for Government includes hospices, and welcome the £5m announced for Scottish hospices earlier this year. But hospices are yet to see any of this money, whilst they continue to face growing costs, increasing demand and financial uncertainty. This support must reach hospices as soon as possible so they can continue to provide their essential care.

Hospices in Scotland provide their expert care and support to over 23,000 patients, families, and loved ones every year. And still, not everyone gets the palliative care they need due to underfunding and uneven services.

We need increased investment in palliative care to meet growing need, address current inequities, and to ensure charitable hospices are sustainable now and in the future, so everyone can get the care they need, when they need it.
