Katie Reade, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at Hospice UK says: "We welcome the National Cancer Plan and its efforts to make a real difference to the experiences of people with cancer, including its commitment to a Modern Service Framework for Palliative Care and End of Life Care this Autumn.

"However, hospices are in crisis right now, with 2 in 5 planning cuts this year amidst skyrocketing demand. Cancer patients represent 60% of the people hospices care for, so it’s disappointing that the plan doesn’t address the crisis in end of life care.

"Between now and the promised Modern Service Framework many more hospices will have to reduce the support they offer to patients and families, including people with cancer. Hospices deserve fair funding, and they need it desperately. The Government must act now to secure their future."
