Caring with Confidence: a new partnership with Dignity
We’re proud to announce a new partnership between Hospice UK and Dignity, one of the UK’s largest end-of-life providers. Together, we’re launching Caring With Confidence, a programme designed to support care home staff as they navigate grief, bereavement, and emotional wellbeing in their daily work.
This partnership brings together Hospice UK’s expertise with Compassionate Employers and Dignity’s commitment to community outreach, with the shared goal of strengthening the emotional resilience of care teams across the UK.
About the Caring with Confidence partnership
Dignity supports thousands of families every year through funeral, cremation, and planning services. Beyond their core work, they play a vital role in communities, helping to change the way people talk about death and dying. This includes training such as Dispelling the Myths Around Afterlife Care, which help care teams and communities better understand the journey families take after a death.
Now, in partnership with Hospice UK, Dignity is co-delivering a new session tailored specifically for the care sector. Together, we want to build a workforce that leads with compassion, creates space for vulnerability, and encourages honest conversations about death, dying, and grief.
About the programme
Caring with Confidence is all about improving how we support residents, families, and staff through grief and bereavement in care settings.
Throughout the year, we’ll be running events, training, and launching new resources to help care teams feel more confident talking about death, dying, and grief. Whether it’s through grief education or reflecting on compassionate leadership, we want to help you feel better equipped to lead with empathy and care, especially during the toughest moments.
Training for care home leaders
We’ve teamed up with Dignity to create a CPD-accredited two-hour training designed for care home managers and leaders.
Through practical guidance and reflective activities, the training explores:
- How grief shows up in care homes, for staff, residents, and families
- What compassionate leadership means in practice
- How to support everyone after a death – from staff to residents and their families
- How to spot and prevent burnout and compassion fatigue in our teams
Connecting with Hospice UK members
We know that many Hospice UK members have strong relationships with their local Dignity funeral providers and care homes. Throughout this partnership, we’ll be looking for opportunities to collaborate locally and create case studies that showcase the impact of this work.
As part of our Dying Matters Campaign, we’re also working with Dignity to help hospices across the UK develop new and creative ways to spark important conversations about death and dying.
