At Hospice UK, we are proud to work in partnership with The Co-operative Bank.

Standing up for people and doing the right thing has been at the heart of The Co-operative Bank’s unique, customer-led Ethical Policy for over 30 years. That’s why we are proud to have worked in partnership with them since 2003.

Over the past 22 years, The Co-operative Bank has generously donated more than £750,000 to Hospice UK and supported our network of over 200 hospices across the UK.

Their ongoing support has taken many forms, including current account switching campaigns, their 150th anniversary celebrations, and the Everyday Rewards scheme. 

As of 2025, we were honoured to be named one of The Co-operative Bank’s five flagship charity partners—a testament to their long-standing commitment to hospice care.

Supporting Hospices through their Switch and Stay Campaign

Hospice UK was proud to partner with The Co-operative Bank on their Switch and Stay campaign, which launched on Monday 11th November 2024 and ran for a month.

As part of the campaign, customers who switched to a Co-operative Bank current account received £150, and in addition, The Co-operative Bank donated £15 to Hospice UK on their behalf. These funds totalled £39,000 and were distributed equally to 39 participating hospices.

The funds supported a range of festive activities that brought comfort and joy to patients and their loved ones. These included Christmas meals and treats, room decorations, visits from Santa, family gatherings, virtual visits for those unable to attend in person, and the creation of meaningful memory-making keepsakes.

This campaign offered a heartwarming opportunity for hospices to create special moments for patients, families, staff, and volunteers.

Gold Compassionate Customer Care Award

Gold Compassionate Customer Care Award

In order to achieve the Gold Award, The Co-operative Bank worked closely with Hospice UK to enhance their services for customers facing bereavement. 

Hospice UK’s Compassionate Employers team are now working with The Co-operative Bank to build on and strengthen existing customer service support. They will lead them through further training, providing advice and support for managers and customer-facing colleagues.

By joining our Compassionate Customer Care programme, The Co-operative Bank is committing to supporting its customers who may be facing experiences of death, grief and caring responsibilities that affect their everyday lives.
