We offer a flexible policy review service to help you show up consistently and compassionately, while also meeting your legal responsibilities. Clear, well-designed policies play an essential role in supporting employees through bereavement, caring responsibilities, and serious illness.
These are areas where there are important legal protections such as time-off for dependants, disability, and protection from discrimination. However, many policies only meet minimum requirements and don’t fully reflect the level of support employees may need in practice.
How can we support you

If you’ve already got policies in place, we’ll review them and suggest practical ways to strengthen them - ensuring they are not only compliant, but clear, inclusive, and aligned with best practice. If you’re starting from scratch, we’ll help you build something meaningful from the ground up.
We can review bereavement and carers policies as needed. Drawing on our experience of working with a wide range of employers, we provide tailored recommendations and benchmark your approach against others in the market - including areas such as length of leave, language, flexibility, and effective signposting to support.
We also provide ready-to-use policy templates, along with a follow-up session to ensure you feel confident implementing and embedding your policy across the organisation.
Employment law is evolving, and organisations have an opportunity to go beyond minimum legal requirements to create truly compassionate workplaces. Current legislation includes Parental Bereavement Leave (Jack's Law), which provides eligible employees with up to two weeks leave following the death of a child under 18 or a stillbirth after 24 weeks of pregnancy. Planned employment rights reforms are expected to introduce a new statutory entitlement to bereavement leave for employees following the death of a loved one, including pregnancy loss before 24 weeks, with further details yet to be confirmed.
Alongside bereavement rights, employees may also be entitled to Carer's Leave, emergency time off for dependants, flexible working arrangements, and protection from discrimination related to caring responsibilities.
We can help you review and enhance your policies to reflect best practice, extending support beyond legal obligations and allowing for more compassionate workplace practices.
