Job description

Jersey Hospice Care is looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist, who will be based in Jersey General Hospital, to provide specialist Palliative Care, knowledge and skills, on a permanent or fixed-term contract basis.

The Specialist Palliative Care Team are an island wide team who work collaboratively with all health care professionals to ensure patients and their families receive expert advice and support in relation to palliative and end of life care in all community settings whether this is at home, in nursing and residential homes or in hospital. 

The post holder will be responsible for managing their own case load within Jersey General Hospital, and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high standards of effective palliative care by providing complex symptom management and holistic care, to provide patients with the optimum quality of life possible.

The ideal candidate will hold a 1st level Adult Registered Nurse qualification (1st Degree/Diploma) with current registration on part one of the NMC register. A Palliative Care award/qualification is required as well as evidence of working toward a post graduate Palliative Care qualification. The successful applicant will have significant post registration experience of working with patients in a palliative care setting and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate difficult and sensitive information. The successful applicant must also demonstrate commitment to complete a non-medical prescribing qualification. They will be self-motivated and able to work independently and flexibly responding to changing situations.
