Hospice UK is today pleased to announce the appointment of two new trustees to its Board.

The charity, which is the national champion for the UK’s 200+ hospices, has appointed Helen Bennett and Andrew Strevens to the Board, supporting the delivery of its new five-year strategy.

Helen Bennett - Chief Executive Officer, Pilgrims Hospices

Helen Bennett has led Pilgrims Hospices as Chief Executive Officer since 2020, bringing over a decade of senior experience in healthcare leadership, human resources, and organisational development.

Previously Helen was the Director of Human Resources at Pilgrims, and an NHS Director involved in major strategic transformation projects, Helen has a deep understanding of both statutory health services and hospice care. She is committed to championing high-quality, person-centred care for people living with a life-limiting illness.

Helen has served on the Hospice UK Advisory Council since 2022, representing hospices across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.

Andrew Strevens - Interim Chief Finance Officer for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

Andrew Strevens is an experienced CEO and CFO, who has worked over 10 years at Board level within the NHS. His career spans both the public and private sectors and he is passionate about ensuring the maximum benefit from the resources available. Andrew is a values-based leader who believes deeply in developing a culture where people can thrive and be at their best.

Hospice UK’s new five-year strategy, ‘For All, For Now, Forever’ was launched in summer 2024 alongside a full refresh of the charity’s brand. Around 40,000 people work in the hospice sector across the UK, along with around 95,000 volunteers who work to enhance the experience of patients and families. 

Hospice UK also provides guidance, analysis and advice on national issues and trends affecting the UK’s hospices. As well as distributing grant funding for specific clinical improvement programmes, it runs conferences, networks and training events.
