Local Hospice Lottery originally started in 1996 as Farleigh Hospice’s own lottery and way of generating regular and reliable income to help fund hospice care across mid Essex. After eleven years, the decision was made to develop the Lottery for the benefit of hospice care in other areas across Great Britain and Local Hospice Lottery was born! 

In 2008 we started working with East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and since that time, more than 40 other (adult and children’s) hospices have joined Local Hospice Lottery – some choosing to transfer their existing lotteries so that they can increase the profit from every £1 play, with others stepping into the territory of lottery income for the very first time. Whatever the reason, through sharing one prize fund, one lottery system and an experienced and knowledgeable team, vast amounts of expenditure can be saved and partnering hospices can enjoy a low risk, low input way of increasing their income. Our collaborative way of working also brings other benefits, such as increased marketing opportunities.
