About the partnership

Hospices provide vital care to approximately 310,000 people each year, yet many face significant funding challenges. Together, Screwfix Foundation and Hospice UK will deliver improvement grants specifically to help hospices enhance their facilities and services, making a real difference to those navigating end-of-life care. The grants programme will open for applications in early 2026 (via our Grants webpages).

Set up in 2013 after recognising the need to give back, The Screwfix Foundation is a grant-giving charity with the clear purpose to support local charities and not-for-profit organisations in need across the UK by fixing, repairing, maintaining, and improving community facilities and homes. Since its inception, the foundation has supported over 2,800 charities and raised over £15 million.

The Screwfix Foundation raises funds year-round through in-store activities, fundraising weeks, and raffles, thanks to the generosity of Screwfix customers and colleagues.

John Mewett, Screwfix CEO and Screwfix Foundation Trustee, said:

“We’re proud to announce this new partnership with Hospice UK to support them in making a real difference to those navigating end-of-life care. Improvement grants are really important and ensure hospice users are more comfortable alongside helping hospices reduce cost. As a charity that helps organisations improve, repair and maintain community facilities for those in need, this partnership provides further help to our communities.”

Catherine Bosworth, Director of Income Generation and Grants at Hospice UK, added:

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Screwfix Foundation to enhance the environments where vital hospice care takes place. The improvement grants will help hospices improve and maintain their facilities, easing financial pressures and enabling them to focus on what matters most: providing expert compassionate care to those approaching the end of life or living with a life-limiting condition. This partnership with Screwfix Foundation will make such a meaningful difference to hospices across the UK.”
