Care homes and hospices

We are working together with Public Health England and the Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Centre at Cardiff University to find out how care homes are supported to deliver end of life care to residents.

Purpose

We have conducted a supplementary survey linked to the Minimum Data Set Survey for specialist palliative care providers that will increase our understanding of:

  • the current geographical spread of services provided by Specialist Palliative Care Units and hospices to adult care homes in England and Wales
  • the level of clinical support, education and training provided by Specialist Palliative Care Units and hospices to adult care homes in England and Wales.

Results

The survey results will be published in spring 2017 providing a baseline for future developments across this important area of care.
