9:00-9:45: Social deprivation and hospice care

Text

This session reframes socio-economic disadvantage from a welfare issue to a clinical quality issue. New evidence shows financial hardship is independently associated with pain intensity in the last week of life, meaning it belongs in the clinical record, not just the social work referral.

The session closes with three practical asks: request equity-stratified data from your NHS commissioner, complete the poverty proofing audit, and write welfare entitlements into your end-of-life care plan template.

Speakers:

  • Emma Revie, Co-CEO, The Trussell Trust
  • Further speakers to be announced
