Policy and advocacy

Hospice UK provides a strong national voice for hospice care in the development and implementation of government policy.

We promote the value and contribution of hospice care with national and local decision-makers. We work with hospices and other organisations to influence and shape the policy environment to secure a better deal for all in accessing high quality palliative and end of life care.

Our policy and advocacy priorities

We work to influence and shape government policies that affect the care that hospices provide to their local communities. Our policy priorities are shaped by hospices and our work is informed by their experiences. We work with hospices to secure a policy environment that helps to deliver better care for all people living with terminal or life-limiting conditions.

Briefings and consultations

We produce briefings for hospices on policy developments and work with them to make sure that the voice of hospice care is reflected in policies and laws by responding to consultations issued by government and other national bodies.

Working with decision-makers

We advocate to raise awareness about the value of hospice care and issues that are important to people living with terminal and life-limiting conditions across the UK. We provide a voice for hospice care in the UK Parliament and within the devolved administrations. Decision-makers are crucial champions for hospice care and we work to support them in their efforts.

Campaigns

Our campaigns help to develop a public and professional understanding of the value and importance of hospice care, and generate support to change policy in order to increase access to quality care.
