Policy and advocacy

Hospice UK provides a strong national voice for hospice care in the development and implementation of government and NHS policy.

We promote the value and contribution of hospice care with national and local decision-makers, and work with hospices and other organisations to influence and shape the policy environment to secure a better deal for all in accessing high quality palliative and end of life care.

Our priorities

We work with hospices and other organisations to influence and shape the development and implementation of government and NHS policy. Our policy priorities are shaped by people living with terminal and life-shortening conditions and their families and carers, and our work is informed by their experiences. 

Advocacy

We provide a strong voice for hospice care in the parliaments and assemblies around the UK, and support local health and care leaders to improve access to hospice care.

Briefings and consultations

We produce briefings for hospices on policy developments and work with them to make sure that the voice of hospice care is reflected in policies and legislation by responding to consultations issued by government and other national bodies.

The team writes regularly on a wide range of policy and advocacy developments across the UK for publications including ehospice and the Huffington Post.
