Gill has worked in specialist palliative care/hospice services for the last 20 years. She completed a PhD in 2011, which sought the perspectives of people affected by lung cancer about the expression of wishes for end of life care.

She currently works as Director of Patient Care at Rowcroft Hospice in South Devon. Gill chairs the community of practice forum for directors of care in South West hospices, has an honorary assistant professorship at the University of Nottingham and is the operational lead for the Devon STP End of Life Care Steering Group.
