Dr Ros Taylor MBE

She initially worked as a GP in Cumbria. In 1992 she joined local pioneers to establish a palliative care unit in West Cumbria Hospital and became enthused by the specialty. In 1996, she took on the leadership role at the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted, a post she held for 18 years until March 2015.

She then became Clinical Director at Hospice UK and now works as a physician in the busy palliative care team at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

Dr Taylor now has over 25 years of experience in palliative care, has lectured widely, nationally and internationally. She believes clinical leadership is vital, keeping core values of care in focus from the bedside to the Board. Ros was awarded an MBE for Services to Hospice Care in 2014, following a nomination by a patient. She tweets as @hospicedoctor and is joint editor of the European Journal of Palliative Care.
